A few days ago, I got a forward on Stella Awards. For the lucky few who were ignorant, this award is given to the most outrageous (and mind-numbing) lawsuits. Reading about this award made me think of the other awards I had the unfortunate happenstance of coming across. The Ig Nobel prize (for the dumbest scientific achievement) and the Razzies (in recognition of the worst movies). As if it wasn't bad enough that such cataclysmic events(the breakdown of common sense) occurred, but we had to go ahead and honor them. Why don't we just give the best bizarre awards, the best of the worst??!! But no!! Someone bet me to it. I thought of it as a mockery, but someone went to a lot of trouble sorting out which one should take the prize. Is there no end to this disaster?? This vicious cycle of senseless events. I'm stuck in this vicious cycle just like any other person, blogging about it, that is. But the tiny little hope in me, that minute part that seems to fight constantly with the cynical side, hopes that someday the talk wouldn't involve such incidents, but be more on the intellectual side (the kind we humans think we are capable of).
who was Stella I wonder? :D
ReplyDeletemind-numbing is a good word. senseless entertainment has become the order of the day.
nice post! :) outrage is all over it and rightfully so! :)
Hey vasu.. Stella was a great lady who sued McD for hot coffee.. which btw she spilled on herself when she so smartly opened the cup, put it on her lap and drove her car.. Mind-numbing doesn't begin to describe this scenario..
